                                            Winter Coaches

7th Grade Boys Basketball
     Head Coach: Taylor Thompson

Coach Tay, was born into a basketball family in Central Wisconsin. His father and two brothers had played college basketball.  Growing up family time and vacations were about basketball. Taylor started traveling the country playing in basketball tournaments in junior high, competing against elite competition and even winning several state and national tournaments. As a junior high and high school athlete, Taylor was recruited by the Wisconsin Playmakers to help assist and coach youth basketball campers. This experience inspired Coach Tay’s passion for coaching at a young age. After high school, despite his family members all pursuing collegiate basketball careers, Taylor made the honorable decision to serve his country and joined the United States Air Force. While Taylor was serving on active duty, he was recruited by the Air Force base’s basketball team to play with them and travel the east coast playing other military bases. Additionally, while serving Coach Tay volunteered and coached basketball at the youth recreation center on base. Now that Coach Tay has moved out to Gilbert, AZ he has volunteered to coach a successful season for Grizzly’s 7th grade flag football team and looking forward to doing the same for Grizzly’s 7th grade basketball team.

Coaching Philosophy

Coach Tay wants his team to push the ball and play fast but stay under control and make smart decisions. The team will be on the attack on defense to make the offense second guess themselves. Practice will be fun for the players but very drill focused to improve the individual player’s skill set thus improving the overall team. Additionally, focusing on team drills to learn each other and where one will be on the court by building team chemistry.

Fun Fact

Coach Tay can solve a Rubik’s cube in under 90 seconds. He is a die-hard Green Bay Packers football fan being born in Wisconsin. Taylor works as a Financial Advisor in his family's business Thompson Financial Group.

Boys Cross Country

     Head Coach: Juan Reyes
My coaching philosophy is that coaching is a teaching tool and an opportunity to teach young men and women the value of loyalty, honor, pride, hard work, competition, teamwork, performing under pressure, and character.
I believe that all sports allow athletes to learn the qualities of loyalty, honor, pride, hard work, competition, teamwork, performing under pressure, and character.  They get the opportunities to learn and also to build and instill these qualities into their lives.  I also believe that all sports give young men and women the chance to form bonds and relationships that only come by being a part of a team.
My coaching experience consists of: 6 years coaching flag football, 3 years coaching cross country and 10 year coaching track and field.

Girls Cross Country
