Chess

 

Thank you for your interest in the GrJHS Chess Team! This is a no-cut team with a varsity and junior varsity section. The first five players will be the varsity team (determined primarily by skill level and playing against each other with final determination by the coach). Other players will make up the JV team. I look forward to a great season!

Please note that team members will receive a detailed information packet and calendar once the season begins.

Fees

When you are fully committed to joining the team, no later than Tuesday, January 14, create or update an account on Aktivate (aktivate.com). Then you will need to pay the following:

• $100 on Aktivate or bring cash/check to the front office
• $15 for team shirt (to be worn at all competitions; form will be shared in the Team Google Classroom, payment made at the time of ordering)

*No physical is required for the Chess team.

Schedule

(starting Tuesday, 1/7/25)

Monday before school from 7:30am-8:30am

Tuesday, Thursday after school until 4:30pm

Wednesday after school, study hall until 3:30 and practice until 4:30pm

*Drop off and pick up times need to be timely in order to ensure participation.

We will use Chess.com to enter and help analyze our games, so students will need to create or use an active Chess.com account.
